APPOINTMENTS

Each surgery consists of a mixture of appointments, some can be booked in advance (pre-bookable), and others, which are not released until the morning of that day.  Morning surgeries also include telephone consultations, which are used when a visit to the surgery is not deemed necessary.

Appointments can be made by telephoning 024 7626 63 70 or by calling in to the surgery.  Please indicate what type of appointment you require.

All patients who telephone on the day that they wish to be seen will be offered an appointment within one working day, depending on the time that the appointment is requested.  If deemed urgent the patient will be seen as soon as possible.  Wherever possible we try to accommodate the patient with the doctor of their choice, although any patient may see any of our doctors.

If you want to see a specific doctor you may have to book several days in advance or phone as soon as possible after 8.00am on the chosen day. However, not all doctors are available on any particular day due to rotas, training and holidays.

Separate appointment systems operate for additional services such as minor surgery, liquid nitrogen clinics, child health surveillance, antenatal and postnatal consultations.

We are committed to giving the best possible service to our patients and ask that you:

  • Arrange appointments for as far in advance as is appropriate
  • Please help other patients by not requesting an urgent appointment for a problem that can wait a day or so
  • If you cannot keep your appointment please let us know as soon as possible as it can always be used by someone else
  • Please report to reception on arrival for your appointment

You may consider seeing one of our Practice Nurses if you have a minor illness. They are fully trained, and will arrange for you to see a Doctor if necessary.

HOME VISITS
If you or a member of your family is housebound, then it may be possible to arrange a home visit. However, this is at the doctor's discretion and he/she may wish to discuss this with you on the telephone beforehand. It is always better for the doctor to see you in the surgery, where your full medical record is available and diagnostic equipment is available.

TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS
Sometimes a discussion with the doctor over the telephone at the end of morning or afternoon surgery may avoid the need for a clinic appointment. Please call reception if you think this may be useful.
