There is usually a charge made for these services – ask at Reception for further details. Health check-ups: are available for any of our patients with the nurses by simply booking an appointment through reception. For those over 16 years of age: you are advised to have a check up with the nurse at least every three years. For those over 55 years of age: we strongly encourage all patients to take up the offer of a health check-up. It’s especially important to those who want to know more about living a healthier lifestyle and those who may have personal weight problems, high blood pressure or a family history of heart disease or strokes. Prevention, wherever possible, of Heart and other Diseases is vitally important to us here at the Practice. For those 75 years of age and over: we recommend that you are seen annually. Flu Jabs are offered annually to people over 65 years of age and to those under 65 who are "at risk" including those suffering from Asthma, Diabetes and Heart problems who are especially vulnerable to influenza. Vaccines are usually available from the end of September. If you are eligible, make sure you have yours next year. Just ask at reception! Pneumovax Jabs are offered to people over 65. One dose of the vaccine lasts for 10 years and helps to protect the elderly against Pneumonia and similar respiratory illnesses. OTHER NURSING SERVICES - In addition to dietary and general health advice, we are able to offer the following nursing services: Dressings, injections, suture (stitch) removal Ear syringing Cervical cytology (smear tests) Immunisations (inc. baby’s other immunisations) Blood pressure checks DO NOT NEED A DOCTOR’S APPOINTMENT and can be booked with our Health Care Assistant, Chris Brownlie. BLOOD TESTS - bloods are taken at the Surgery daily between 8.00 and 11.00 by appointment only. Reception can advise on other locations where you can have blood taken, including University Hospital and Coventry & Warwickshire Hospital. WANT TO STOP SMOKING? Like all practices, we want to encourage you to stop smoking. Only you can make that decision but help and support is available through our clinics here at the surgery and the City's Smoking Cessation Team. Coventry has one of the highest success rates in helping people to stop smoking. Speak to the doctor or nurse if you'd like to know more. IS ALCOHOL AFFECTING YOUR DAILY LIFE?
